Climate Change Adaptation

Twenty-eight low-tech rainwater harvesting systems were installed on houses in Baie du Nord, as part of a climate change adaptation project with support from AusAid.

The installation of these systems has been very successful. The households where these tanks were installed have access to additional water to plant and grow vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots and greens (brede), which they can eat or sell. It has helped reducing their household expenditure on food. The RRA wants to replicate the project in other villages around the island.
